What is Code Blue?

When emergency code systems are initiated as a call from anywhere in the hospital or health center, it indicates that there is an emergency at that point according to the content of the call. When the call is initiated, information is sent to the pre-planned units and the hospital can thus intervene immediately. Emergency Codes are expressed with colors and a separate common number has been determined for each color code with the National Color Codes standard. “Code Blue”, one of the most commonly used codes, represents the presence of patients, relatives or hospital staff in need of emergency medical attention.

What is Blue Code System:

In cases where the Basic Life Support process (CPR) is required in the hospital, it enables the health personnel to make calls from all the internal phones of the hospital, the Room Control Panels in the patient rooms and the Emergency Service Panel in the emergency room, and the addresses of these calls must be assigned to the Pager Pager Devices and/or mobile phones of the blue code team. It is a communication and automation system that allows it to be transmitted as an information message and to record and report the response performance with smart cards used by the team personnel.

Purpose of the Blue Code System:

In the event of a patient's respiratory or cardiac arrest at any point in the institution, it is to ensure that the specialist personnel who will provide resuscitation to the patient are informed of the situation as quickly as possible, to be directed to the scene and to increase the success rate of Basic Life Support. In addition, it is aimed to increase the service quality by recording incident and response information of all Code Blue cases and creating various performance reports. (As per the Patient and Employee Safety Communiqué dated 29.04.2009)

In ELEKTROVIEN Emergency Code Systems, emergency code calls can be made from telephone, pager devices, DECT devices and improved ELEKTROVIEN products. Emergency Code Systems can be integrated into every hospital environment.

Emergency is activated by giving the Emergency Code from a phone number registered to the system. The Emergency Code Server answers this call and processes the station information from which the call came. It then generates the emergency message and forwards it to pagers and DECT devices. To cancel the emergency code, it is sufficient to dial the same number from the station giving the call.

In addition, special messages other than these four emergency codes can be determined over the system, according to your wishes, and can be transmitted to paging and DECT devices with the same system. The Emergency Code Switchboard Server can operate as analog or IP based, depending on the type of switchboard available in the hospital.
